Weezy season has returned. Lil Wayne made his Tha Carter VI release date official with the release of a clip on Tuesday (April 1) featuring some throwback footage of the New Orleans rap legend.
Tha Carter VI will arrive on June 6 with a pre-order link now live. “Tha Carter VI Pre Order Now Coming 6.6.25,” Wayne wrote to X. The clip was soundtracked by Tha Carter IV‘s “She Will” and includesd a 20-second snapshot of the rapper’s Hall-of-Fame career.
“I was put here for a reason. It might be hard to outdo myself, but it ain’t hard to do myself so that’s what I do. They call me Weezy Baby, if ya nasty. So now I’ma make these platinum plaques and I’ma teach the game,” he said in various clips pieced together from over the years.
Wayne previously teased the C6 release date in a Cetaphil ad in February, which saw Tunechi dropping hints about the 6/6 arrival throughout the skincare commercial. A closing scene gave the strongest indication that a summer release date was in the cards via a studio door that read, “Do Not Disturb ‘Til 06-06-25 Carter VI.“
The last chapter in the long-running series, C5, landed in 2018. The June 6 release date marks nearly 17 years to the day after Tha Carter III changed the rap landscape forever on June 10, 2008. The third, fourth and fifth installments of Tha Carter each topped the Billboard 200.
Lil Wayne has yet to release a single in 2025, but he hopped on GELO’s viral “Tweaker” remix in February. The 42-year-old will hit the stage with the Hot Boys and Big Tymers for a joint set at J. Cole’s Dreamville Festival 2025 in North Carolina this weekend.
